The Rolling Stones — Photographs from a Defining Era

This collection brings together original photographs of the Rolling Stones made across the years in which their sound, their image and their reputation were set.

Barrie Wentzell photographed the band in London through the 1960s, from Ready Steady Go! in 1966 and the band's Mayfair office in 1968 to the free concert in Hyde Park in 1969, the first performance after Brian Jones's death. Barry Schultz photographed the group in Rotterdam in 1973, on the European tour that followed Exile on Main St.

Lynn Goldsmith's portraits of Mick Jagger, made between 1972 and 1982, follow him from the early seventies into the stadium years, and her work on the band is among the most sustained photographic records of Jagger as a performer. Further works by Bob Gruen, Ebet Roberts and Mick Rock complete the collection.

More than iconic images, these photographs stand as historical documents of a band that stayed at the centre of popular culture for longer than anyone expected, photographed by people with real access at each stage.

Each work is produced from the original negative or colour transparency, hand-signed by the photographer or the estate, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a secure digital provenance record.

Photographers in this collection: Barrie Wentzell, Lynn Goldsmith, Barry Schultz, Bob Gruen, Ebet Roberts and Mick Rock. Related collections: John Lennon, Led Zeppelin.
