About this work

In 1978 Thin Lizzy played a free concert on a stage built on the steps of the Sydney Opera House, broadcast live on television to an audience of more than 100,000.

Chalkie Davies, the band's tour photographer, stood on stage between the amplifiers. For the opening "Jailbreak", three ramps had been built into the crowd, and during the first chorus Phil Lynott, Scott Gorham and Gary Moore ran out along them. Davies made about a dozen frames and considers this daylight photograph nearly as strong as his colour image used on the cover of Live and Dangerous.
