About this work

Genesis photographed by Barrie Wentzell in Central Park, New York, in 1972.

The band were then almost unknown in the United States, several albums into a career that had found an audience in Britain and Italy but had barely registered across the Atlantic. Wentzell photographed them on that first visit, before the theatrical staging of the Gabriel years had made them a substantial live draw.
