"Elvis Costello was the first person I ever photographed in a Studio." Over almost two decades, from 1978 to 1996, Chalkie Davies photographed Costello more than anyone else, and calls him his favourite subject.

This photograph comes from the studio session for Trust in 1981: dark hat, coat and suit. The hand gesture was devised during the session. It was not used for the album and was first published by Davies decades later.
