Elvis Costello on stage at the El Mocambo, the small Toronto club, in 1978. Chalkie Davies watched the first night to plan his pictures and, on the second, caught Costello dropping to his knees mid-song.

Costello's manager asked him not to publish it, as the move was meant to look spontaneous to audiences. Davies agreed, and was given wider access to Costello from then on. The photograph remained unpublished for some 35 years.
