About this work

David Bowie photographed by Barrie Wentzell at the MainMan office, 252 Regent Street, London, in 1972.

Wentzell had come with the Melody Maker writer Mick Watts to interview Bowie at the small, unglamorous premises of his manager Tony DeFries. They found him seated in a brilliantly coloured outfit, smoking, entirely composed — the Ziggy Stardust year, and the moment at which the press began to treat him as something other than a curiosity.

Archival pigment print. Limited edition of 50. Hand-signed and numbered by Barrie Wentzell. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
