About this work

Count Basie photographed in England by Barrie Wentzell.

Basie brought his orchestra to Britain regularly from the late 1950s onward, and by the period Wentzell was working he was among the last of the great bandleaders still touring. Melody Maker had begun life as a jazz paper and continued to cover the music seriously long after rock had taken over its front pages.

Archival pigment print. Limited edition of 50. Hand-signed and numbered by Barrie Wentzell. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
