From CBGB and the rise of New York punk to intimate portraits of artists including Patti Smith, the Ramones, Blondie, Prince, David Bowie, Tina Turner, Bob Marley, and Michael Jackson, Ebet Roberts created one of the most comprehensive photographic records of popular music in the late twentieth century.

Working with unusual proximity to her subjects, Roberts documented musicians both on and off stage, capturing moments that combined spontaneity, personality, and cultural significance. Her photographs offer a unique perspective on the artists who shaped punk, new wave, rock, and pop music during a period of extraordinary creative change.
