About the Photograph

Bob Gruen’s multiple-exposure photograph of Tina Turner in performance at the Honka Monka Club, New York City, 1970, fuses several moments of her incandescent stage presence into a single frame — an early and inventive image from Gruen’s long documentation of the artist.

This is an original vintage gelatin silver print, made from Gruen’s negative in the early 1980s and signed by the photographer, with his copyright archive stamp on the verso. Printed on single-weight fibre paper.
