About the Photograph
Queen at Mick Rock's studio on Great Newport Street, November 1973, gathered around a ceremonial mace and crown — regal imagery for a band whose name demanded it.
This is a unique late print — a lifetime print drawn from Mick Rock's own archive and personal collection. It is signed by the photographer on the front and, most unusually, inscribed in his own hand along the lower-left margin — “MICK'S STUDIO, GREAT NEWPORT ST. NOV. 1973” — a gesture Rock almost never made. No other example is known, making it a genuine one-of-a-kind.
Archival pigment print on photographic paper, 16 × 20 inches. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and provenance. From the personal collection of Mick Rock, offered by The Music Photo Gallery. Price on request.
