By 1983 Lou Reed had long since transformed rock songwriting — first with the Velvet Underground, whose downtown New York vision shaped everything that followed at CBGB and beyond, then across a restless solo career. This image catches him on stage at the Bottom Line, the Greenwich Village club that was a proving ground for the city's songwriters. Grossman's concert frame is a departure from his close studio portraits, trading intimacy for the charge of live performance.

Each print is produced from the original negative, dated and hand-signed by Bobby Grossman on the front, stamped on the verso, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by the gallery. All works are limited edition.
