About the Work

Debbie Harry reclining on a hotel-room couch at the Aladdin in Las Vegas in 1979, in a white dress and white heels, photographed by Roberta Bayley during the Parallel Lines world tour that carried Blondie from CBGB graduates to one of the most-watched pop acts in the world. Bayley's framing reads as the kind of behind-the-tour picture only her scene-insider access could produce.

Photograph by Roberta Bayley.

Cibachrome (Ilfochrome) print — sheet 17 × 21½ inches, image 16 × 20 inches — executed in 1979. An artist's proof, one of only two prints in existence: Bayley printed the negative a single time and never returned to it. Double-signed, titled and dated by the artist on the reverse. Long discontinued, the Cibachrome process leaves every surviving example among the last of its kind.
