About this work

Debbie Harry at the stove in the 17th Street apartment she shared with Chris Stein, New York City, 1977. Holding a frying pan and caught mid-gesture, she is a long way from the stage — which is exactly the point of Stein's most intimate pictures.

Photographed in color inside their own home, the image belongs to the private half of Stein's archive. The domestic setting turns a pop icon back into a person, briefly and without ceremony.

Open Edition. Archival pigment print produced directly from the original color transparency, on premium cotton photographic paper. Certificate of Authenticity included. Worldwide insured shipping.
