Debbie Harry and Chris Stein kissing on a moving New York subway train in 1976, photographed by Roberta Bayley — one of the most-quoted images of the early downtown punk scene's central creative and romantic partnership, made a year before Blondie's debut album. The motion of the train streaks across the carriage windows behind them while the kiss holds steady at the centre of the frame.

Cibachrome (Ilfochrome) print, 16 × 20 inches (40.6 × 50.8 cm), executed in 1976. Number 12 from an edition of 25, signed, titled, numbered and dated by the artist on the reverse. The Cibachrome process is prized for its optical luminosity, colour saturation and archival permanence; long discontinued, every surviving example is among the last of its kind.
