About the Photograph
David Bowie is photographed by Mick Rock in the recording studio in 1973, a colour study from the sessions around Aladdin Sane and Pin Ups, when Rock enjoyed unbroken access to Bowie at work.
Mick Rock — “the man who shot the seventies” — held rare, sustained access to the era’s defining artists, from David Bowie and Lou Reed to Iggy Pop and Queen. This photograph belongs to a group of unique vintage prints from his personal archive held by The Music Photo Gallery.
This is a unique vintage chromogenic (colour) print measuring 8 × 10 inches, hand-annotated and stamped by the photographer on the verso. No other copy of this print is known.
