About the Work

David Bowie is photographed by Mick Rock during The 1980 Floor Show in 1973, the NBC television special filmed at the Marquee Club in London that marked one of the last performances of the Ziggy Stardust material.

Mick Rock — “the man who shot the seventies” — held rare, sustained access to the era’s defining artists, from David Bowie and Lou Reed to Iggy Pop and Queen. This photograph belongs to a group of unique vintage prints from his personal archive held by The Music Photo Gallery.

This is a unique vintage resin-coated (RC) silver print measuring 8 × 10 inches, hand-annotated and stamped by the photographer on the verso. No other copy of this print is known.
