Cherie Currie of the Runaways, photographed by Chris Stein in Boston in 1977. Still a teenager and already the face of a band that scandalized and thrilled in equal measure, Currie meets the camera with the poise of a seasoned performer.

Stein's picture captures the Runaways at a peak moment, when the group's mix of glam and hard rock was opening doors that later bands would walk through.
