About the Photograph
Brian May of Queen on stage in the United Kingdom, 1974, coaxing his handmade Red Special guitar through a solo in a cascade of white satin — Mick Rock's intimate record of the band on the cusp of stardom.
This is a unique late print — a lifetime print drawn from Mick Rock's own archive and personal collection. It is signed by the photographer on the front and, most unusually, inscribed in his own hand along the lower-left margin — “BRIAN MAY, UK 1974” — a gesture Rock almost never made. No other example is known, making it a genuine one-of-a-kind.
Archival pigment print on photographic paper, 16 × 20 inches. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and provenance. From the personal collection of Mick Rock, offered by The Music Photo Gallery. Price on request.
