About this work

During the recording sessions for *Parallel Lines*, Martyn Goddard photographed Blondie inside New York's legendary Record Plant Studio at a pivotal moment in the band's career.

Commissioned by Chrysalis Records, the week-long assignment coincided with mounting creative tensions between the band and producer Mike Chapman, whose pursuit of polished studio perfection contrasted sharply with Blondie's downtown New York punk roots.

Despite the demanding atmosphere, Goddard captured a series of intimate photographs that reveal Debbie Harry and the band at work as they created the album that would become one of the defining records of the new wave era.

Produced as museum-quality archival pigment prints from the original transparency, each print is individually signed by Martyn Goddard and released in strictly limited editions.
