A private view for George Kurz
A documented overview of the works selected at Bob Gruen’s studio, together with the revised acquisition proposal prepared in August 2026.
Selection context
The works bring together the New York Dolls, Iggy Pop, Patti Smith’s circle, Suicide, The Clash and Siouxsie and the Banshees — subjects Bob photographed from within the culture itself.
The first presentation brought together sixteen vintage prints from the group reviewed after George’s visit to Bob’s studio. Following the August 2026 conversation, Bob and TMPG returned to the archive and identified later historical impressions — plus a small number of clearly distinguished contemporary alternatives — so the collection could remain coherent without losing its archival meaning.
This Private View places the original and revised proposals in one visual record, with print dates, categories and prices stated for direct comparison.

A considered process
The dates below are not a deadline. They show the care and continuity behind the proposal — and why the selection is now ready for a simple decision.
Sixteen vintage works from the group reviewed after George’s visit to Bob Gruen’s studio, with individual prices from USD 6,000 to USD 22,000.
George acknowledged the proposal as the works selected at Bob’s place and asked to find a time to discuss it, while also considering an institutional presentation of Bob’s work in Cincinnati.
A direct conversation created the basis for a more workable acquisition approach and a clearer distinction between early vintage, later historical and contemporary prints.
Bob reviewed and approved the alternative impressions and revised pricing: eight works at USD 32,000, with six additional options.
The complete decision set is brought together visually, with proposal status and print categories stated clearly.
Next steps
TMPG can reconfirm the exact impressions, condition and current availability with Bob’s archive, and prepare the final acquisition record for the selected group.
