Sheila Rock is an American-born photographer based in London since 1970, widely recognized for her documentation of British punk, post-punk and youth culture during the late 1970s and 1980s. Working closely with publications including The Face, Rolling Stone and The Sunday Times, Rock developed a distinctive photographic language that captured the emergence of a new visual culture in music, fashion and nightlife.

Her photographs have been exhibited internationally, including presentations in London, Berlin, Tokyo and Paris, and her work is held in the permanent collections of the National Portrait Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

Rock’s photographs of artists including Blondie, The Clash, Siouxsie Sioux, Billy Idol and the New Romantics remain among the most compelling visual documents of London’s underground music scene and its surrounding cultural transformation.
