Chris Cuffaro has been photographing musicians for five decades. He started as a teenager in Northern California, shooting local rock shows, and moved to Los Angeles in the early 1980s, where he became one of the photographers closest to the bands that reshaped American rock at the turn of the 1990s.
His archive covers Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Jane's Addiction and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, along with George Michael, Iggy Pop, Elvis Costello, Fiona Apple, Henry Rollins, Scott Weiland and No Doubt. The photographs were published in Rolling Stone, Spin, RayGun, Vibe and Musician, and appeared on more than 300 album covers.
Since launching his Greatest Hits exhibition series in Los Angeles, Cuffaro has returned to the archive with dedicated shows on grunge, Pearl Jam, George Michael and Michael Hutchence. This selection brings together key images from that body of work.
